Keeping in the theme of using photos for technology projects, today I bring you one of my favorites --

Blabberize

Free to use!
  • Create/make without account.
  • However, if you want to save or share an account in needed.

Simple to use:
  1. Upload a photo
  2. Place a mouth (this is the most time intensive part if your image has a mouth -- but it doesn't have to have a mouth!)
  3. Record (if it is the first use, you will need to allow access to the microphone)
  4. Save/share (link, embed code and the ability to save a video)

Here is an example with a character that has a mouth:
And this example showcases an object without a mouth:
What will you Blabberize?

There are so many classroom technology projects that can start with something relatively "low-tech" of a photo (I say "low-tech" as most of us are comfortable taking photos).

The November posts will feature a few tools/ideas that use photos and I hope you will be able to "picture" how you could is them.

Free account signup
Available online or iTunes

Very simple to use:
1. Upload a photo
2. Record
3. Share

Limitations:
No editing (just have to re-record)
Around a minute of recording time

Canva is a free online graphic design tool and is available as an iPad app.

Canva offers a simple drag and drop design feature, enabling creation posters, social media posts, business cards, and more. Easy to use templates, design with specific custom dimensions or create with popular design types. Canva boasts of more than 1 million photos, icons, and layouts. However, not all 1 million are free! Be aware of “$” as you browse. There are plenty of free choices and users can upload their own photos to use.
Designs can be shared and even collaborated on. Designers are in charge of sharing choices: sharing with an entire class/group, providing view-only access, and allowing collaboration rights. A new feature allows for the creation of a team of 10 members for free to allow for easier sharing of designs. All designs can be made public or kept private and are saved within your Canva account for further use or editing. When downloading designs, users are given the choice of image for web (JPG), high quality image (PNG), standard (PDF), and for print (PDF).

Canva is integrated with Google Apps for easy sign-in and eliminates the need for additional logins/passwords. Additionally, within Canva’s Design School teachers can access teaching materials, lesson plans and more.

Check out Canva here.
