Educators can additionally benefit from ScratchEd, an online community for Scratch Educators.
This week is Computer Science Education Week and the famous Hour of Code. In honor of Computer Science Week, there will be a post a day highlighting an activity. Last week's Post: Hour of Code Monday's Post: Hour(s) of Code - Featuring Tuesday's Post: App-Tastic Hours of Code ScratchWith Scratch you can create stories, games, and animations. Online https://scratch.mit.edu/ or ScratchJr App (see Tuesday post for more information on the app). Tutorials on the homepage (and under "see things to try") include not only an easy to follow tutorial, but also printable activity cards and educator guides. An example is shown below: Scratch includes step-by-step tutorials and other tips for creating your first project. As a new user or coder, this is a great place to start! Advanced users, think about adding in another device...for example a Makey Makey. Check out the Makey Makey game collection and instrument collection. Addional resources: Getting Started Guide (Makey Makey & Scratch) and Scratch Music Tips & Tricks. Educators can additionally benefit from ScratchEd, an online community for Scratch Educators. This is a great week to get started! But you can "scratch" the Scratch itch any time of the year.

Feel free to also look back at last week's Hour of Code post that included ideas for getting involved. Code Code.org is a great site full of learning opportunities for coding, with an additional specific section dedicated to Hour of Code. As you can see above, fun tutorials connected to popular television and movie characters await. Teacher/students are able to filter activities by grade level, experience, technology device, topics, type and length of activity, and the programing language.
