This week is Computer Science Education Week and the famous Hour of Code. In honor of Computer Science Week, there will be a post a day highlighting an activity.

Last week's Post: Hour of Code
Monday's Post: Hour(s) of Code - Featuring
Tuesday's Post: App-Tastic Hours of Code

Tutorials on the homepage (and under "see things to try") include not only an easy to follow tutorial, but also printable activity cards and educator guides. An example is shown below:

Scratch includes step-by-step tutorials and other tips for creating your first project. As a new user or coder, this is a great place to start! Advanced users, think about adding in another device...for example a Makey Makey. Check out the Makey Makey game collection and instrument collection. Addional resources: Getting Started Guide (Makey Makey & Scratch) and Scratch Music Tips & Tricks.

Educators can additionally benefit from ScratchEd, an online community for Scratch Educators.

This is a great week to get started! But you can "scratch" the Scratch itch any time of the year.

Code

Code.org is a great site full of learning opportunities for coding, with an additional specific section dedicated to Hour of Code.
Picture
As you can see above, fun tutorials connected to popular television and movie characters await. Teacher/students are able to filter activities by grade level, experience, technology device, topics, type  and length of activity, and the programing language.

In addition, there is a specific secition dedicated to robotics! This is a great section to find activities for Ozobots, BB8, Sphero, Dash & Dot, Hummingbird, Drones, and more.

Each activity features extra teacher notes that include lesson plans, extension activities, and other teacher resources.

This site covers all learners!
Special Needs Students
A specific section addressing ways to support special needs students for the Hour of Code.

Unplugged Activities
Love this section of lessons that do not require a computer or device to learn the basics of computer science.

Happy Coding!
