A Little Comix Relief

My favorite part of the Sunday newspaper has always been the comics/cartoons. It seems like so much can be communicated in such a simple medium.

One of my favorite comix creators is Make Beliefs Comix -- take a closer look below.

Make Beliefs Comix

Picture
Make Beliefs Comix is available online or as a free iPad app. It is easy to use and fun! Choose the number of frames (2-4), backgrounds, writing prompts, characters and more! It even supports seven languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, & Latin!

When finished, the site offers the ability to print, save, or email the finished product. Make Beliefs does NOT store the comix! You also do not need an account --which means no signup or login required!

Free Technology for Teachers (www.freetech4teachers.com) also suggests the following browser-based tools for creating comix strips.

Some tools require accounts and others do not. As always evaluate which is best for your class and age of students.

Keeping in the theme of using photos for technology projects, today I bring you one of my favorites --

Blabberize

Free to use!
  • Create/make without account.
  • However, if you want to save or share an account in needed.

Simple to use:
  1. Upload a photo
  2. Place a mouth (this is the most time intensive part if your image has a mouth -- but it doesn't have to have a mouth!)
  3. Record (if it is the first use, you will need to allow access to the microphone)
  4. Save/share (link, embed code and the ability to save a video)

Here is an example with a character that has a mouth:
And this example showcases an object without a mouth:
What will you Blabberize?

There are so many classroom technology projects that can start with something relatively "low-tech" of a photo (I say "low-tech" as most of us are comfortable taking photos).

The November posts will feature a few tools/ideas that use photos and I hope you will be able to "picture" how you could is them.

Very simple to use:
1. Upload a photo
2. Record
3. Share

Limitations:
No editing (just have to re-record)
Around a minute of recording time
